Erik Bedard threw a phenomenal game today versus the San Diego Padres allowing just 3 hits through eight shutout innings. The M's won 4 - 1 after Chris Ray and the boys played a sloppy ninth inning.
With Bedard pitching well in his past few starts, there is a few things that peak my interest. One, is he truly back to being the ace that we were supposed to get from Baltimore? If so, even though we have been doing so horrible offensively, we should have a chance to compete in our division.
Also, if he continues to pitch well, we also have to understand that he is on a one year contract. He could be some serious, serious trade bait come July. I would love to keep him if we could guarantee it, but if we cannot, let's cash in like we did in the Cliff Lee deal.
Some other things to note about tonights game. Jack Cust didn't play being that we were in a National League park and Erik Bedard got a hit to raise his average better than two-thirds of the team. Brendan Ryan had a good night at the plate! All in all, we look as though we are just starting to turn the corner on our offensive woes. However, last time I said that we went on a 6 game losing streak. So, pretend I didn't say anything.
I love it when we win!!! Go M's!
