M's WALK Away With A Victory Over O's

Jack Cust continues his hot hitting today versus the O's going 2 for 4 with a triple. Yes, a triple by Jack Cust with an RBI.

The lineup change today that sent Chone Figgins to the number eight spot and Brendan Ryan batting second was a good change for the top of the order. The problem however was just shifted to the bottom of the order. Ichiro got two hits (2 for 4) while scoring twice. Smoak went 0 for 2 but he walked twice and scored a run.

Walking is something, maybe the only thing the M's did right today. Arrieta had a rough day on the hill and could not find the strike zone in the 3rd. The M's took advantage of two bases loaded walks with one out. However, when the Orioles changed pitchers we faltered big time. Peguero and Figgins struck out back to back to end the inning and leave the bases loaded. For some reason we still cannot hit with runners in scoring position.

The O's made it interesting in the 8th and 9th innings but we were able to escape after giving up 2 runs in the 8th. We? I should say Chone Figgins. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Vlad Guerrero hit a ground ball to Figgy at 3rd and Figgins booted the ball allowing a run to score and Vlad to make it to first. Awful. His next move may have to be to AAA Tacoma because this guy is falling apart. He was 0 for 3 today with 2 K's. The only good part about hitting 8th was the fact that he got one less at bat.

My plea to Jackie Z - please bring up Ackley and sit Figgins down! It really isn't going to hurt anything if Ackley gets a slow start. He would be more fun to watch and you would draw more fans. I will pay his bus ticket.

The Angels came back and beat KC today and the Rangers are up 2 - 0 in the 3rd against Tampa Bay. Oakland lost to New York though which will leave us all alone in third place. This should be a good next couple of days in the West. Let's GO MARINERS!!!!
