The Sun Shines on Fister's Gem

The M's and the Angels were knotted at 1 - 1 going into the bottom of the ninth. Fister pitched 8 full innings, giving up only one run on a solo homerun in the fourth inning. The M's returned the favor in the bottom of the fifth getting a sac fly from Chris Gimenez. The score would stay the same until the bottom of the ninth.

With two outs and runners on first and third, Carlos Peguero hit a ball high into centerfield. In his previous at bat he had been robbed of an extra base hit by Gold Glover Tori Hunter. This time, he wasn't robbed, but was given a gift. Tori Hunter lost the ball in the sun. He and Saunders had been battling the sun all day and had seemed to stay away from trouble, but this time Hunter didn't win the battle as the ball dropped to the ground scoring Jack Cust from third and giving Peguero the game winning RBI single.

This same thing happened when the sun blinded Ichiro earlier this year and Boston won the game with a walk off single. So, the sun returns the favor on a beautiful day at Safeco Field.

So another M's starter goes deep into the game pitching incredible against a pretty solid team but still can't find enough offense to get the starter a win. I think Fister and the rest of the team will take a "W" any way they can get it right now though. The Angels starter Dan Haren looked pretty incredible though. Haren has been proven to be a pretty good pitcher, so I think I'll have to give the offense some slack today and thank the sun for helping us out.

One more game up the ladder climbing closer to that .500 mark after dropping six in a row, the M's seem to be scratching out wins any way they can again. Just dream with me how it would be if we had some offense!!!

Thank God for Sunshine in Seattle!
