Pineda Is Human After All!

Definitely not the best day at the office for Michael Pineda. He was cruising along until the third when he gave up a four spot that was capped by a three run homerun off the bat of Torii Hunter. Hunter hit two homeruns off of Pineda, another in the fifth that was a two run shot. His RBI alone was enough to beat the Mariners but we had to face another 8 guys in the lineup as well. Pineda just went 5 innings, giving up 7 earned runs on only 6 hits and 2 walks and striking out 7.

Final score, Mariners 3 - Angels 9.

Wow, in a game that all of us M's fans thought was a surefire win for us as we faced off against ex-Mariner Joel Piniero, it turned out to be a slug fest that only one team was invited to. The M's hit the ball well, but once again their hits were scattered everywhere throughout the game. The M's matched the hit total of the Angels with 12, but did not get the same results. A proven testimony of the lack of hitting with runners in scoring position and not being able to get any sort of rally going.

The Rangers yesterday were losing in the bottom of the ninth to the A's, but as I looked again this morning, they came back and won their game 7 - 6. That sends the M's way back to 6.5 games out of first place and Texas and Anaheim continue to be the hottest team in baseball.

So that just leaves one question: Does everyone still want to make that blockbuster trade for a rental bat and risk where we're headed in the future?
