How Desperate Are We?

I was on twitter the other day when it was announced that Hiroshi Yamauchi had passed away.  Soon after, I got a message from a fellow Mariner fan that turned into an argument.  Not an knock out, drag out sort of thing, but a difference of opinion that was hashed out.  At the end of it, neither of our opinions had changed.

I won't bore you with the details and I won't say who it was, but something he mentioned struck me and I had to ask myself, exactly how desperate are we as fans to see the Mariners succeed and win the World Series?

An argument I was making was that an owner that didn't attend a game was better than Arte Moreno or Mr. Loria.  In case you didn't know, Moreno is the owner of the Angels who, according to rumors, was the driving force behind the signings of Pujols and Hamilton.  And if you don't know who Loria is, Google him.  That's a story that would take days to write.

In essence, I'd rather have an owner who didn't care about attending a game than an owner who meddles in baseball operations to make a splash (Moreno) or pretty much screws over everybody he ever comes in to contact with (Loria).  The fan's argument was that Loria may be the devil himself, but at least they've won two World Series'.

Now, I'm not going to make my case or belittle the other guy just because I don't agree with him.  Debate is a good thing and I want to keep it that way.  Instead, I'd rather find out from fellow fans on this subject.  You can find the poll on the right side of the page and feel free to comment.  Get to voting!
